Boy From Alaska Wins 42nd National Rotten Sneaker Contest

(PCM) Congratulations are in order (at least we think) to the winner for the Odor Eaters 42nd annual National Rotten Sneaker Contest. The honor of “Smelliest Sole” went to a young man from Alaska named Connor Slocombe. The contest was held a the famed Ripley’s Believe It Or Not in New York City.

Slocombe also took home the prize of $2,500, which he will hopefully use to purchase some new sneakers, as well as an additional two night stay in New York City, tickets to a Broadway show, a space in the Odor Eaters “Hall Of Fumes” and a supple of Odor Eaters products to hopefully rid himself of his “smelly soles”.

Slocombe’s New Balance sneakers were so worn through that his toes were literally popping out of the top of his shoes, but hey, at least he got a golden sneaker medal! You know, goals and stuff! We can’t believe this competition has been going on for as long as it has!

The final competitors are chosen from local markets around the country and their sneakers are judged on factors such as odor, condition and the child’s description as to why their shoes are the stinkiest.  The contest began in 1974 when a sporting goods owner in Montpelier, Vermont was seeking to advertise a new line of athletic shoes. The rest is “stinky” history.

“NOW That’s What I Call Rock” Is Finally Here And All We Can Say Is, It’s About Time!

(PCM) There couldn’t be a more perfect time for the release of the newest edition in the NOW multi-artist hit anthology series “NOW That’s What I Call Rock”! The release marks the first time that the NOW series has featured an all rock n’ roll compilation and it leaves us wondering what took them this long!

The airwaves these days are filled with pop darlings and cookie-cutter one-hit wonders to the point of overkill and rock, which once ruled the charts, is much of the time overlooked. This compilation of chart-topping and best-selling rock hits proves with certainty that rock n’ roll is very much alive and well. It is a brilliant portrait of the current rock universe and features something for just about every taste.

The compilation features artists such as Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, Fall Out Boy, as well as, newcomers  Failure Anthem, Devour The Day and Wolf Alice.  Of course there will always be complaints about which band’s didn’t make it onto this particular compilation, however overall it features a solid mix of artists who are continuing to pave the way for rock music into the future. Plus, we can only hope that this release will only lead to additional volumes for the “NOW That’s What I Call Rock” series!

The track list for “NOW That’s What I Call Rock” is as follows:

Artist / Track

Bring Me The Horizon – Throne
Shinedown – Cut The Cord
Fall Out Boy – Uma Thurman
Royal Blood – Little Monster
Seether – Words As Weapons
Cage The Elephant – Mess Around
The Struts – Could Have Been Me
Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life
Cold War Kids – First
Walk The Moon – Shut Up And Dance
X Ambassadors – Renegades
Chris Cornell – Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats – S.O.B
Elle King – Ex’s & Oh’s
Florence & The Machine – Ship To Wreck
Borns – Electric Love
Breaking Benjamin – Failure

NOW Rock! – “What’s Next”:
