Philadelphia Featured Prominently in the New Creed Trailer

Creed_Feature(PCM) The newest trailer for Creed, the latest installment in the Rocky film series, pays homage to Rocky’s hometown and setting, the historical city of Brotherly Love.

The sixth installment in the series (and the only one not written by Sylvester Stallone) stars Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed, the son of Apollo Creed, teaming back up with Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler.

The latest trailer for Creed, clocking in at 2 minutes and 30 seconds, focuses on Adonis’s struggles with his ego and relationships and features a few prominent shots of Philadelphia, the main setting for the majority of the Rocky films, including a shot of Rocky and Adonis in front of the Ben Franklin Parkway and a shot of the city’s skyline at night.

Watch the new trailer below the official synopsis!

From Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema comes award-winning filmmaker Ryan Coogler’s Creed. The film explores a new chapter in the Rocky story and stars Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone in his iconic role. The film also reunites Coogler with his Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan as the son of Apollo Creed.

Adonis Johnson (Jordan) never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. Still, there’s no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed’s legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa.

Once in the City of Brotherly Love, Adonis tracks Rocky (Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer. Despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good, Rocky sees in Adonis the strength and determination he had known in Apollo—the fierce rival who became his closest friend. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter, even as the former champ is battling an opponent more deadly than any he faced in the ring.

With Rocky in his corner, it isn’t long before Adonis gets his own shot at the title…but can he develop not only the drive but also the heart of a true fighter, in time to get into the ring?

Creed also stars Tessa Thompson (Selma, Dear White People) as Bianca, a local singer-songwriter who becomes involved with Adonis; Phylicia Rashad (Lifetime’s Steel Magnolias) as Mary Anne Creed, Apollo’s widow; and English pro boxer and former three-time ABA Heavyweight Champion Anthony Bellew as boxing champ Pretty Ricky Conlan.

Coogler directs from a screenplay he wrote with Aaron Covington, based on characters from the Rocky series written by Sylvester Stallone. The film is being produced by Robert Chartoff, Irwin Winkler, Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, David Winkler, Kevin King Templeton and Sylvester Stallone, with Nicholas Stern executive producing.

Creed opens in theaters nationwide on November 25, 2015.

Sandra Bullock Turns a Campaign Around in the New Trailer for Our Brand is Crisis

OurBrandisCrisis_Poster(PCM) Warner Bros. Pictures released the first trailer and poster for Our Brand is Crisis, the latest drama from Pineapple Express and George Washington director David Gordon Green starring Oscar winners Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side) and Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade).

A Bolivian presidential candidate failing badly in the polls enlists the firepower of an elite American management team, led by the deeply damaged but still brilliant strategist “Calamity” Jane Bodine (Bullock). In self-imposed retirement following a scandal that earned her nickname and rocked her to her core, Jane is coaxed back into the game for the chance to beat her professional nemesis, the loathsome Pat Candy (Thornton), now coaching the opposition.

But as Candy zeroes in on every vulnerability – both on and off the campaign trail – Jane is plunged into a personal crisis as intense as the one her team exploits nationally to boost their numbers. Dramatic, rapid-fire and laced with satire, “Our Brand is Crisis” reveals the cynical machinations and private battles of world-class political consultants for whom nothing is sacred and winning is all that matters.

The drama also stars Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Joaquim de Almeida (Fast Five), Ann Dowd (Side Effects, HBO’s The Leftovers), Scoot McNairy (Gone Girl, Argo) and Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks).

Green directs from a screenplay by Oscar nominee Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), suggested by the documentary by Rachel Boynton, which outlined the American political campaign marketing tactics employed in the real-life 2002 Bolivian presidential election.

The film is produced by Oscar-winning Smokehouse Pictures’ principals Grant Heslov and George Clooney (Argo), with Bullock, Stuart Besser, and Participant Media’s Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King serving as executive producers.

Our Brand is Crisis opens in theaters nationwide Friday, October 30, 2015.

James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe Debut the First Trailer for Victor Frankenstein

VictorFrankenstein_Poster(PCM) Stars James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe introduced the first official trailer for 20th Century Fox’s Victor Frankenstein today, giving audiences their first look at director Paul McGuigan’s take on the classic science fiction horror.

Victor Frankenstein offers a very different take on Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus, than previous film adaptations, starring James McAvoy as the titular character and galvanizing scientist, Dr. Frankenstein, and Daniel Radcliffe as his assistant, Igor.

What makes Victor Frankenstein so different from its predecessors is its portrayal of Frankenstein and Igor; McAvoy’s Frankenstein is eccentric and touched with a little bit of madness but is also somewhat of a bad boy with a flippant devil-may-care attitude while Radcliffe’s Igor is probably the most handsome Igor to appear onscreen yet, swapping a hunchback for long hair and a more concerned personality than his friend and employer.

Directed by Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin, Push) from the screenplay by Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra), Victor Frankenstein is told from the perspective of Victor Von Frankenstein’s assistant, Igor, as he works alongside the young science student and watches him become the mad scientist he is known as today.

Described as a drama/horror, the first trailer for Victor Frankenstein makes the movie out to be more of an action-adventure/thriller in the vein of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, with the relationship between Frankenstein and Igor, the quick shots of reanimated flesh, electrical storms, snooping cops, and a handful of explosions.

Victor Frankenstein stars Daniel Radcliffe, James McAvoy, Jessica Brown Findlay, Andrew Scott, and Freddie Fox and opens in theaters nationwide November 25, 2015. Watch the first offiical trailer below and visit Facebook for more info!

Johnny Depp is in Too Deep in the Latest Trailer for Black Mass

BlackMass_Poster(PCM) The third official trailer for Black Mass debuted today, revealing new footage of Johnny Depp in-action and nearly unrecognizable as James “Whitey” Bulger, one of America’s most notorious criminals.

Yelawolf’s pounding “Till It’s Gone” provides the soundtrack to the third trailer for Black Mass, where we get to see Johnny Depp completely embody “Whitey” Bulger with his balding hair, icy blue eyes, and cold, cold demeanor as he navigates the Boston organized crime scene, rising to the top as a kingpin and the FBI’s second Most Wanted Man behind Osama bin Laden. Watch the new trailer below!

In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James “Whitey” Bulger (Johnny Depp) to collaborate with the FBI and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the true story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement, consolidate power, and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history.

Directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Out of the Furnace) from the screenplay by Mark Mallouk and Jez Butterworth (Edge of Tomorrow), Black Mass is based on the book, Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob written by Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill.

Leonardo DiCaprio is Having A Rough Time In The First Trailer for The Revenant

TheRevenant_Feature(PCM) 20th Century Fox released the first trailer for Oscar-winning director/co-writer Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy.

Inspired by true events, The Revenant is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit.

In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy).

Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.

The Revenant is directed and co-written by renowned filmmaker, Academy Award winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman, Babel). Mark L. Smith (Vacancy, The Hole) co-wrote the script based on the 2003 novel by Michael Punke of the same name.

The trailer, while beautiful, is bleak and features almost no dialogue, color, or plot details. There’s a lot of DiCaprio trekking through the wild, wrapped in furs and fighting against other men as well as the elements.

The Revenant looks like the type of drama that requires mental preparation before watching based on how emotionally taxing the trailer is alone. Both DiCaprio and Hardy look like they dedicated themselves fully to their roles, diving into the hard lifestyle lived by those in 19th century wild America.

Watch the first trailer for The Revenant, also starring Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter, below, and visit The Revenant‘s official website, Facebook, and Twitter for more info!

The Revenant will open with an Oscar-qualifying limited run starting on December 25 before opening in theaters nationwide January 8, 2016.
