Have A Rockin’ Thanksgiving! A Looks At Some Of Our Favorite Songs About Giving Thanks!

(PCM) Thanksgiving is finally here and we have put together a list of some of our favorite songs that are all about being thankful.

They are sure to put you in the right frame of mind to celebrate the spirit of the holiday and will be the perfect soundtrack to a truly grateful Thanksgiving surrounded by family and friends.

1. Thank U – Alanis Morissette

The track was written after Morrisette returned home from a journey to India with her mother and a few friends. It is a reflection of the gratitude she experienced during her journey.

2. Thank You  – Dido

Dido wrote the track to express her feelings about her then boyfriend and despite the fact that the couple has since split, the song still holds a thankful and hopeful message.

3. Someone Saved My Life Tonight – Elton John

You can truly feel the raw emotion and sensitivity along with a deep sense of gratitude within Elton’s vocals.

4. Shelter From The Storm – Bob Dylan

Dylan inspires us to be thankful for the protection we feel within our community and surrounded by our friends.

5. Thank You – Boyz II Men

There is no mystery here. Boyz II Men get right to the point and show their extreme gratitude with this heartfelt track.

6. Thank You, Thank You, You’re Far To Kind – Jay Z

Jay-Z released this track as a thank you message to his fans. Maybe a little egotistical but the message of gratitude towards fans is quite apparent.

7. Thank You For Being A Friend – Andrew Gold

There is no way we could leave this classic track about the gratitude of friendship off this list. Most people will recognize it as the theme to the hit TV series “The Golden Girls”.

Chris Rock’s Comedy ‘Top Five’ Opens in Theaters Nationwide December 12

TopFive(PCM) Chris Rock’s critically acclaimed comedy, Top Five, follows a comedian who is trying to make it as a serious actor when his reality-TV star fiancé talks him into broadcasting their wedding on her TV show. Read the official synopsis and watch the official trailer below!

Pulsing with the rhythm of his greatest stand-up, Chris Rock’s Top Five takes things to the next level, reveling in the high and the low, and blending a star-studded comedic romp with an irresistible romance.

Top Five digs under the surface of show business, politics, rap, and the exigencies of being black and famous today—holding it all up to the light in the way only Chris Rock can. Mingling echoes of Woody Allen and Dick Gregory with the energy of Kanye West and Jay Z, Top Five is an original and radically new kind of American movie.

Written, directed by, and starring Chris Rock, Top Five tells the story of New York City comedian-turned-film star Andre Allen, whose unexpected encounter with a journalist (Rosario Dawson) forces him to confront the comedy career—and the past—that he’s left behind.

Top Five stars Chris Rock, Rosario Dawson, Kevin Hart, Tracy Morgan, Cedric The Entertainer, J.B. Smoove, Sherri Shepherd, Adam Sandler, Whoopi Goldberg, Anders Holm, Romany Malco, Leslie Jones, Michael Che, and Jay Pharoah. The film is produced by Scott Rudin and Eli Bush. The Co-Producers are Shawn “Jay Z” Carter and Kanye West with Questlove serving as Executive Music Producer.

Top Five received positive critical reviews after premiering at the Toronto Film Festival in September; the film currently has a fresh rating of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. Scott Foundas of Variety praised Chris Rock’s direction, saying: “It can be hard for a movie to dwell on the problems of the rich and famous without seeming a touch self-serving, but Rock always keeps things in perspective.”

Jordan Mintzer of The Hollywood Reporter also praised the film: “The writing is strong enough that when the humor gives way to drama in the second half, there’s enough at stake to keep us interested, although Rock still has plenty of jokes in store for the finale.”

Top Five will open in select theaters December 5, 2014 and expands to theaters nationwide December 12, 2014.

For more info and updates, visit the film’s website, Facebook, Instagram, Google+, and Twitter.

Jay-Z Made It Rain Two-Dollar Bills At Made In America Festival..But Why?

2-dollar-bill

(PCM) Those of us at the recent Made In America Festival in Philadelphia were being showered by both cake and champagne during the rousing set from DJ Steve Aoki, but also got showered with something a bit more unusual….two-dollar bills courtesy of Jay-Z himself, and the mysterious “Two-Dollar Bill Man”.

Most of the festival attendees paid little mind to this small financial gift, thinking it was part of either Aoki’s set or just some generosity from HOV, some didn’t even believe that it was real money at first. We managed to catch one of the bills and sure enough it is real and it got us thinking that there has to be more of story behind it and we were quite surprised with what we discovered with a little bit of research.

AokiCome to find out, these two-dollar bills have become a staple in the rap scene and if you are paying close attention you will see them connected to everyone from Kanye West to Justin Bieber. Here’s where it gets interesting…the bills come from a man by the name of Steven Reisman. Reisman is a middle-aged attorney, said to represent many rap artists, but this has not be confirmed, some claim he does not even work in the music industry. He is a staple in the hip-hop industry and is known at “The Two-Dollar Bill Man” because that is what he always gives away. Everyone has nothing but praise and good things to say about him and he is certainly well-loved in the industry..he is truly everywhere!

Reisman was handing out his two-dollar bills at Made In America in Philadelphia and is looked at as a dispensary for the stars of rap and hip-hop for his famous two-dollar bills. Despite being by the side of so many of rap and hip-hop’s A-list, Reisman is not seeking any fame or notoriety for his acts of generosity,  he is just a fan who adores rap music at the end of day. He has refused multiple times to speak with the press about his actions and his trademark item, and prefers to work on his multiple charitable organizations and has also been known to give out free concert tickets to those who can’t afford to attend.

A while back, Complex did a story about the “Two-Dollar Bill Man” in hopes of finding out a reason for his actions and a little bit more information. The story says that Reisman was travelling in a taxi cab and received a two-dollar bill as his change. He thought it was quite odd and lucky, so he then began giving out two-dollar bills everywhere he went.

Reisman would leave two-dollar bills as tips and also hand them out at concerts. In a video obtained by Complex, it shows rapper Drake, speaking to Reisman from the stage commenting on how impressed he was that Reisman had been singing along to each and every word of his songs. Reisman then handed Drake a two-dollar bill while he was on-stage and seemingly the rest is history.

We felt this story was fascinating and are thrilled to have our very own two-dollar straight from Jay-Z and of course the “Two-Dollar Bill Man” a.k.a. Steven Reisman the mystery man who is adored by all.

Beyoncé Releases “50 Shades of Grey” Trailer

(PCM) Beyoncé dropped a teaser trailer for 50 Shades of Grey on her Instagram on Saturday and the internet is freaking out.

The teaser trailer is more of an announcement for the official trailer which will be released this Thursday, 7/24.

In the meantime, you can watch the teaser trailer below, which appears to feature an a cappella version of Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love.”

While it’s unclear why Beyoncé, undoubtedly one of the biggest pop/R&B artists of our time but not in the film, debuted the trailer, the move makes sense considering the BeyHive (Beyoncé’s loyal fans) consists primarily of women aged 18-55, which also happens to be the target demographic for 50 Shades of Grey.

Beyoncé is currently co-headlining with her husband and rap legend/mogul Jay-Z on their On the Run Tour, which is already seeing huge success; each show has been speculated to average $5.2 million in gross sales.

50 Shades of Grey, written by E.L. James in 2011, is the first book in the Fifty Shades trilogy, an erotic romance series that explores the relationship between a young college graduate and a young business mogul, and has already seen its more-than-fair share of success.

The series has been translated into over 52 languages and has sold over 100 million copies worldwide, making it the fastest-selling paperback of all time.

The film, which is speculated to be a box office hit, stars Jamie Dornan (Marie Anntoinette) as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson (21 Jump Street) as Anastasia Steele and is directed by Sam Teylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy).

Stay tuned for the official trailer coming out this Thursday and for 50 Shades of Grey, opening in theaters nationwide February 13, 2015.

Watch the Trailer for the New “Annie”

Annie(PCM) Ever since Jay-Z and Will Smith announced plans to make an Annie remake, the internet has been abuzz with questions, skepticism, and excitement. Now audiences can get their first glimpse at the new film in its recently released trailer, seen below!

In the summer of 2012, the two entrepreneurial stars announced plans to create an Annie remake starring Willow Smith, pop star and Will Smith’s daughter. Due to scheduling conflicts, Willow had to drop the project and now Quvenzhané Wallis will play the iconic lead role sans red afro.

Some people have raised objections to Annie not sporting her characteristic red afro while others object to a modernization of the story, believing that Hollywood is out of original ideas and relies too much on remakes to create box office revenue.

If you ask me, a modernized version of Annie starring Quvenzhané Wallis and produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z sounds like it might be original enough to distinguish itself from the 1982 Annie, which only has a 50% on Rotten Tomatoes anyway, so why not make a remake?

Quvenzhané Wallis is reason enough to see the new Annie; in 2013, the young actress was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her role as Hushpuppy in the refreshingly original and touching Beasts of the Southern Wild, making her the youngest person to ever receive a Best Actress Oscar nomination.

Also starring in the new Annie are Cameron Diaz as Miss Hannigan and Jamie Foxx as Benjamin Stacks. Get it, “Benjamin Stacks” like stacks of Benjamins aka hundred dollar bills? Already you can see this remake’s originality shinning through.

Annie will open in theaters nationwide this winter on December 19th. Watch a trailer for the film below and let us know your thoughts in the comments!
