(PCM) The popular British/Irish boy band The Wanted announced their break up today in a statement on their official website to the dismay of their loyal fans. The Wanted formed in 2009 and were signed to Universal Music subsidiaries Island Records and Mercury Records.
The band’s statement reads: “This tour will be their last for a while as Tom, Max, Jay, Siva and Nathan have collectively decided to take time to pursue personal endeavours following the tour’s conclusion.” Fans have already started flooding the comments with proclamations of love and support for the band.
After gaining popularity in the UK and Ireland, the band rose to fame in the US when their 2010 single “Glad You Came” landed on the Billboard Top 100 Chart in 2012. The band continued to have hits in both the US and abroad with the release of their subsequent singles “Chasing the Sun” and “I Found You.”
The Wanted also has a reality series called The Wanted Life on the E! Network which started airing in June of 2013.This announcement comes right as the band is gearing up for their International Word of Mouth Tour which will start on Feb. 14 in Dubai and end on May 17 in the US.
The band left hope for their fans by ending their statement with a promise of future projects.
