(PCM) The sequel to Zack Snyder’s 2007 Greek war epic 300 will hit a theater near you starting March 7th.
300: Rise of an Empire packs the same visual style and action-packed punches as 300 even though Noam Murro, known for 2008′s Smart People, has taken over the role of director from the film’s writer Zack Snyder.
Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster 300, this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield-on the sea-as Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton; Gangster Squad) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.
300: Rise of an Empire pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro; 300), and Artemisia (Eva Green; Casino Royale), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
Lena Headey, who has gained popularity after her lead role on HBO’s Game of Thrones as Cersei Lannister, is also reprising her role as Queen Gorgo for the film.
300: Rise of an Empire has a run time of 1 hour and 42 minutes and is rated R for for strong sustained sequences of stylized bloody violence throughout, a sex scene, nudity and some language. Visit the film’s official website here.
