“Bad Words” Starts Limited Run March 14th

BadWords(PCM) Jason Bateman makes his feature directorial debut with the subversive comedy Bad Words, starting a limited run in theaters March 14th and expanding nationwide on March 28th.

Bad Words follows Guy Trilby, a 40-year-old who finds a loophole in the rules of The Golden Quill national spelling bee and decides to cause trouble by hijacking the competition. Contest officials, outraged parents, and overly ambitious 8th graders are no match for Guy, as he ruthlessly crushes their dreams of victory and fame.

As a reporter attempts to discover his true motivation, Guy finds himself forging an unlikely alliance with a competitor: awkward 10-year-old Chaitanya, who is completely unfazed by Guy’s take-no-prisoners approach to life.

Bad Words stars Jason Bateman (Arrested Development, Horrible Bosses), Kathryn Hahn (We’re The Millers), Allison Janney (Juno), Ben Falcone (Bridesmaids), Rachael Harris (The Hangover), and Rohan Chand (Lone Survivor).

Bad Words marks Jason Bateman’s first time behind the camera for a film; Bateman has previously directed three episodes of the late ’80′s TV series Valerie, which he also starred in, as well as other ’80′s, ’90′s, and ’00′s sitcoms, including the 2004 episode of Season 1 of Arrested Development “Afternoon Delight”.

Bad Words has already managed to earn a rating of 8.2/10 on IMDB and a fresh rating of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Jason Bateman will also be directing the upcoming The Family Fang, a drama based off a novel of the same name by Kevin Wilson. Bateman will star in the film alongside Nicole Kidman.

Bad Words has a run time of 88 minutes and is rated R for crude and sexual content, language and brief nudity.
