(PCM) A straight-laced pharmacist’s uneventful life spirals out of control when he starts an affair with a trophy wife customer who takes him on a joyride involving sex, drugs and possibly murder in the hilarious dark comedy Better Living Through Chemistry, in theaters March 14th.
A small town pharmacist’s life is turned inside out when a chance encounter with a lonely trophy wife turns into a walk on the wild side. Doug Varney is the model of suburban respectability-until the night he delivers a prescription to the home of Elizabeth Roberts.
Gorgeous, seductive, and multiply addicted, Elizabeth eagerly introduces Doug to extra-large martinis, uninhibited bedroom behavior, and the illicit pleasures of the pharmacopeia he has access to in his store.
Better Living Through Chemistry stars Sam Rockwell (Moon) as the uptight pharmacist Doug Varney and Olivia Wilde (Tron: Legacy) as the wild trophy wife. Also starring in the film are Michelle Monahgan (Source Code), Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), Jane Fonda (Monster-In-Law), Ben Schwartz (Turbo), Peter Jacobson (White House Down), Ken Howard (J. Edgar), Jenn Harris (Gayby), and Norbert Leo Butz (Dan in Real Life).
Fun fact: Jeremy Renner was originally supposed to play the role of Doug Varney but after scheduling conflicts Sam Rockwell got the part. Rockwell will also be starring in Sam Raimi and Gil Kenan’s 2015 remake of Poltergeist.
Better Living Through Chemistry will start its limited run in theaters starting March 14th. Watch a trailer for the film below!
