(PCM) Last night’s episode of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” was absolutely jam packed with both character revelations and plenty of promise to what is going to drive the story forward throughout the rest of this season.
SPOILER ALERT: The following content reveals spoilers and other information about last night’s episode of “The Walking Dead” titled “Claimed”.
Throughout the course of the episode we learned quite a bit more about Michonne’s child, the mission that Abraham and his crew are attempting to complete, and that Carl is almost completely certain that little sister Judith is no longer alive.
While there are still plenty of the questions about what is to come, we have at least been introduced to the new characters of Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene and have learned that they are on a mission to “save the world”. It was revealed that Eugene is a scientist and they were speaking with individuals in Washington, D.C. via satellite phone about the cause of the “zombie outbreak” until recently when all communications ceased. It is now their mission to get Eugene to Washington, D.C. to find out exactly what is going on and perhaps put a stop to the outbreak all together.
After witnessing what Glenn and Tara were able to accomplish with escaping the prison Abraham is attempting to recruit them for assistance with their mission. Glenn wants no part of it, as he is still on a quest to find Maggie alive, however when a fight breaks out between Abraham and Glenn and the convoy vehicle is severely damaged they are all forced to travel together for salvation sake.
In last night’s episode we definitely got to see a bit more of Michonne’s softer side (along with her love of spray cheese) and, despite my feelings about Carl, which are definitely not on the positive side, watching the character dynamic between him and Michonne is certainly a treat.
When out on a supply run with Carl, Michonne finally reveals that she had a three year-old son named Andre Anthony and he died when the “everything” first occurred. Carl continues to plague Michonne with questions about her son and it was an amazing moment to watch her begin to open up to him and in turn she got him to open to her about what has been going on with him emotionally as well. Carl revealed to Michonne that Rick allowed him to choose Judith’s name and that he hopes that both Judith and Michonnes’ son Andre are somewhere together, letting on that he believes that Judith is dead.
One of the most poignant scenes in the episode occurred when Michonne and Carl were exploring a home and Michonne discovers one of the rooms to be an adorable child’s room painted all pink. Inside the room were the mummified looking remains of the family that once owned the home and the look on Michonne’s face just expressed the horror of the scene perfectly.
While, Michonne and Carl were off the the supply run, Rick received some unexpected guests in the home that they were hiding out in. It is apparent right away that there are some unsavory characters and Rick does an incredible job, with no weapon, at managing to get himself out of the house undetected and unnoticed.
He is able to stop Michonne and Carl from re-entering the house and the episode concludes with them on the train tracks discovering the same road map sign to “Terminus” the place that promises “sanctuary for all, community for all”. Looks like they are headed for a reunion with Tyrese, Carol, Mika, Lizzie and Judith!
Can’t wait to see what happens next week!
