(PCM) A new and terrifying take on the found footage genre, Afflicted follows two globetrotting friends on a journey for adventure who wind up with way more than they bargained for.
This terrifying horror thriller follows two best friends who set out on the trip of a lifetime around the world, creating a travel blog and ready for whatever life throws at them.
Their journey, documented every step of the way, soon takes a dark and unexpected turn after an encounter with a beautiful woman in Paris leaves one of them mysteriously afflicted.
The movie plays out in web videos and journal entries, documenting the mysterious affliction’s fast growth and its hold on the traveler as he quickly descends into inhuman-like behavior and traits.
Afflicted won Best Picture (Horror), Best Screenplay (Horror), Best Director (Horror) at Fantastic Fest, and is the recipient of awards of recognition from the Toronto International Film Festival and the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival.
Starring in the film is writer/director Derek Lee, Clif Prowse, and Baya Rehaz (Blue is the Warmest Color).
The film is currently sporting a fresh rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, not bad for a film in a genre that is seen as overused and gimmicky present days.
