Noah in Theaters March 28

Noah_6(PCM) Noah, an intense retelling of the biblical epic, is the latest film from director Darren Aronofsky, in theaters nation wide March 28th.

Noah‘s official website disclaims: “The film is inspired by the story of Noah. While artistic license has been taken, we believe that this film is true to the essence, values and integrity of a story that is a cornerstone of faith for millions of people worldwide. The biblical story of Noah can be found in the book of Genesis.”

For those unfamiliar with the story, Noah is a family man living in dark times; times where people are consumed by their greed, pride, envy, and other deadly sins. God, in his anger and disappointment against mankind, makes plans to destroy the world with a major flood, wiping out humans and their evil ways.

Noah, cherished by God for his faith and righteousness, is warned by God of the flood, and told to build an ark for himself, his family, and 2 pair of every kind of animal and bird. Once Noah has his ark built, the heavens open and pour rain on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights. If you don’t know how the story ends, I’ll leave it as a surprise for the film.

Noah stars Russel Crowe (A Beautiful Mind, Gladiator), Jennifer Connelly (Blood Diamond, Requiem for a Dream), Emma Watson (Harry Potter, Perks of Being a Wallflower), Logan Lerman (Perks of Being a Wallflower, Percy Jackson), Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs, Elephant Man), Ray Winstone (The Departed, Hugo), and Nick Nolte (The Thin Red Line, Warrior).

Noah is written and directed by Darren Aronofsky, known for directing Pi (1998),  Requiem for a Dream (2000), The Fountain (2006), The Wrestler (2008), and Black Swan (2010), which was nominated for an Academy Award in 2011 for Best Achievement in Directing.

Fun fact: both Christian Bale and Michael Fassbender were offered the role of Noah but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts.Congrats Russel Crowe!

Noah is currently unrated and hits theaters nationwide on March 28th! Watch a trailer for the film below!
