(PCM) Several reports have surfaced that claim members of the Westboro Baptist Church planned to picket, founder Fred Phelps funeral and that the leader had been excommunicated for the church have turned out to be false.
In fact, according to Westboro Baptist Church member Margie Phelps there will not even be a funeral at all. She recently tweeted “We don’t worship the dead in this church, so there’d be no public memorial or funeral to picket if any member died.”
The news about the ailing health of Fred Phelps was revealed by his estranged son Nate Phelps who took to his Facebook account to post the news. Nate also claimed that Fred Phelps had been excommunicated from the church and is currently on the edge of death at Midland Hospice in Topeka, Kansas.
The Westboro Baptist Church has remained vague about the current state of Fred Phelps health and dodged questions about his possible excommunication saying that “membership issues are private”.
The church also goes on to say that they will continue will all of their planned activiites regardless of the health of Fred Phelps.
We suppose that means they will still carry through with the planned protest of the upcoming Lorde concert set to take place in Kansas City on March 21st.
The church was planning the protest the show because they feel that the name “Lorde” is inappropriate for someone to use. Lorde is laughing off the threat of a protest and even took to her Twitter account to poke some fun at the church.
She tweeted “Everyone wear rainbow clothing to that show. Everyone try to kiss church members who are same sex as you they will so love it”. The tweet has since been deleted from her account.
