(PCM) The classic scary big monster is more of a colossal terrifying beast in Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures revamp of Godzilla, in 2D, 3D, and IMAX nationwide starting May 16.
From visionary new director Gareth Edwards (Monsters) comes a powerful story of human courage and reconciliation in the face of titanic forces of nature, when the awe-inspiring Godzilla rises to restore balance as humanity stands defenseless.
After accidentally waking Godzilla in 1954, the U.S. government tried to nuke the beast in the Pacific Ocean to no avail. Now the creature is back and hellbent on destroying as much human life as possible.
Godzilla stars Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Drive), Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene, Oldboy), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Savages), Sally Hawkins (Never Let Me Go, Blue Jasmine), Juliette Binoche (The English Patient, Dan in Real Life), Ken Watanabe (Inception, Batman Begins), and David Strathaim (The Bourne Ultimatum, Lincoln).
The official trailer is a pretty gripping one: low rumbling bass underscores images of destroyed cities while a clearly worried and frustrated Bryan Cranston demands answers. Good thing Godzilla is being released in 3D and IMAX because this summer blockbuster looks pretty epic.
Here’s to hoping that it will at least be better than the 1998 Godzilla starring Matthew Broderick, which only got a 25% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
