(PCM) Nymphomaniac: Volume II picks up the story of Joe in the later half of her life, continuing the story of her life and sexual exploits.
Nymphomaniac is the wild and poetic story of a woman’s journey from birth to age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg).
On a cold winter’s evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman (Stellan Skarsgard), finds Joe beaten up in an alley. He brings her home to his flat where he cares for her wounds while asking her about her life.
He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushly branched-out and multifaceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.
Starring alongside Charlotte Gainsbourg (Melancholia, Antichrist) and Stellan Skarsgard (Thor, The Avengers) are Shia Lebeouf (Transformers, Lawless), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator, One Hour Photo), Uma Thurman (Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction), Jamie Bell (The Adventures of Tintin, Billy Elliot), Stacey Martin (Nymphomaniac: Volume I), and Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man, The Grand Budapest Hotel).
Nymphomaniac: Volume II was directed by Lars von Trier (Melancholia, Dogville) and has a run time of 2 hours and 3 minutes. Watch a racy trailer for the film below and catch Nymphomaniac in theaters on a limited run starting April 4.
