Casting Revealed For Jem And The Holograms Movie

(PCM) My inner 80′s child was screaming with glee when the news was first announced about the upcoming live-action Jem and The Holograms film. I can not help being even more excited now that the casting has been revealed.

Many people thought it was just a rumor when the news first broke about this project, but now director Jon M. Shu has revealed his principle cast for the film. The script was penned by Ryan Landels and Shu is also acting as a producers. Other producers attached to the film are Scooter Braun and Jason Blum.

When the news about the film was first revealed, the producers put out an open casting call for actor/musicians, leading many to believe that the role of Jem would be cast as an unknown actress, however with today’s casting news this does not seem to be the case.

Aubrey Peeples, best known for a role on TV’s Nashville, will play Jem. Disney star Stefanie Scott is Jem’s sister Kimber, Aurora Perrineau (Pretty Little Liars) is Shana and Hayley Kiyoko (Lemonade Mouth) is Aja.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, who first broke the news about the film and the casting are saying this version of Jem “centers on an orphaned teenage girl who becomes an online recording sensation. She and her sisters embark on a music-driven scavenger hunt — one that sends them on an adventure across Los Angeles in an attempt to unlock a final message left by her father.”

Shu also released the first image of the cast! Check it out below:
