(PCM) In news that has come out of the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, Disney chairman Alan Horn revealed that there are currently no plans in the works at this time for a sequel to the hit Disney film “Frozen”.
However, Horn did reveal to The Hollywood Reporter that majority of Disney’s attention was going to be focused on a upcoming stage version of the blockbuster animated film.
Disney was absolutely thrilled with the box office performance of “Frozen” and as reported early this year, truly saw the film as having franchise potential. It is the sixth highest-grossing movie of all time, bringing in $1.129 billion in ticket sales and selling over 2 million copies of the film’s soundtrack.
It appears that we will definitely see a musical stage version of the film before any type of sequel and it is Disney’s hope that the voice cast will want to return for the stage adaptation. Most are Broadway veterans and many have already expressed interest in the project.
