Ladies Home Journal Magazine Makes A Major Cut Back

Ladies-Home-Journal1(PCM) The magazine print industry has been in a steady decline over the past few years, with many magazines being forced to make tremendous cut-backs to avoid having to end up folding completely.

The latest magazine to be affected by cut-backs is the popular Ladies Home Journal, one of the nations oldest women’s magazines. The Meredith Corporation who owns the magazine has recently announced that they will be putting an end to all subscription services. Ladies Home Journal will also no longer be published monthly, but will instead by a quarterly publication and only available at newsstands.

The magazine launched back in 1883 and still currently boasts a circulation of 3.2 million, however that is not enough to keep it thriving. The average age demographic for readers is women in their 50′s and advertisers are looking to publish in a magazine that offers a bit broader age demographic. A magazine spokesperson is blaming advertising and not the brand itself for the recent changes.

The magazine’s upcoming July issue will be the last one sent out to current subscribers and the change has left 35 employees in the magazine’s New York City office without a job.
