If you are anything like us when it comes to television, then you are always on the hunt for new programming that is both innovative and fresh. We all grow weary of the same run of the mill serial dramas and situation comedies that just fail to spark any real interest these days.
That is why we were thrilled to hear the announcement about the new USA Network series “Playing House”. The tagline for the show “2 friends. 1 baby. No clue” peaked our curiosity right away and from what we can tell by the previews, it appears that USA will be well on their way to scoring another addictive hit series.
And can we talk about the all-star cast? “Playing House” will focus on the story of two childhood best friends, Maggie Caruso played by Lennon Parham and Emma Crawford played by Jessica St. Clair, who spent their adolescence together in the small town of Pinebrook, CT. The two have remained incredibly close friends over the years, and the show will delve into the true meaning behind what it means to be someone’s “BFF”, as the two friends are prepping for one of life’s biggest adventures together…raising a baby! In the preview alone we spotted “Key and Peele’s” Keegan-Michael Key, Zach Wood of “The Office” and the always hilarious Sandy Martin of “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” as some of the additional talent cast on the show, so there is really any way this show isn’t going to work?
As we dive a little bit deeper into some information about the series we learn that pregnant Maggie’s husband is leaving her after having an affair with a muscular German woman (this we have to see!) and Emma has left her cushy and high-paying job in China to return to Pinebook to help her BFF through the trials and tribulations of this difficult time in her life. Together the pair will revisit their past and face the future together in the way that only best friends can and we can not wait to be a part of the journey.
“Playing House” will premiere on USA Network on April 29th at 10pm. You can view the trailers below to get a taste of what’s to come:
