Hercules_15(PCM) Do you smell what “The Rock” is cooking? MMMmmm, smells like a summer blockbuster!

Former WWE wrestler and current action star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is starring in MGM and Paramount Pictures’ Hercules, opening in theaters nationwide starting July 25.

Based on Radical Comics’ Hercules: The Thracian Wars by Steve Moore, this ensemble-action film is a revisionist take on the classic myth, Hercules.

After Hercules completed his twelve labors, he became a mercenary, traveling ancient Greece and trading his strength and services for gold. When the benevolent king of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ help to defeat a terrible warlord, Hercules must face his past and overcome his demons to triumph over evil.

The epic action film also stars Golden Globe Winner Ian McShane (Kung Fu Panda, Snow White and the Huntsman), Rufus Sewell (A Knight’s Tale, The Holiday), Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love, Luther), Peter Mullan (Trainspotting, War Horse), Irina Shayk, and Academy Award (R)-nominee John Hurt (The Elephant Man, Hellboy).

Hercules is currently in post-production and not yet rated. Watch the trailer below and visit the official website here.

Dwayne Johnson is currently filming Fast & Furious 7 (2015) and San Andreas (2015), and is rumored to star in Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon.
