(PCM) There have recently been a few details released about the upcoming second season of the HBO hit series “True Detective”. Show creator Nic Pizzolatto has opened up and confirmed some of the rumors that have been recently circulating the web in a new podcast interview with “To The Best Of Our Knowledge”.
While the second season of “True Detective” has not been official confirmed, it has been confirmed by Pizzolatto that there will be three lead characters, which will be all-new to the series. Entertainment Weekly claims that they will most likely be two men and one female, but those details are only speculated at this time.
Pizzolatto also confirmed that the setting for the second season will take place in California, but not Los Angeles. The area featured looks to be a bit more off-beat and they hope to capture the “psycho-sphere ambiance” much as they did with season one.
The setting is rumored to be present day and again is speculated to consist of eight episodes all written by Pizzolatto. What will supposedly be different this season is that while season one episodes were all directed by Cary Fukunaga, season two will feature different directors for each episode.
There have been plenty of rumor swirling about the casting for the new season along with plenty of A-list name dropping, however nothing has been official confirmed and Pizzolatto states that casting will officially begin in a few weeks.
Pizzolatto also claims the show’s downbeat demeanor will still remain intact, as the series explores the concept that “the poison at the root of the world is humanity.”
We absolutely can’t wait to see what’s in-store!
