(PCM) Celebrated and loved actor Gary Oldman is about to become cannon fodder for night time cable show hosts, Bill Maher (Real Time – HBO) and Jon Stewart (The Daily Show – Comedy Central). Gary Oldman sees a politically correct agenda that thrives on unchecked double standards. In a current Playboy interview, Oldman voices his opinion towards what he sees as biased celebrity talent who use their notoriety and shows as platforms to attack anyone in the public eye that do not share their ideals.
Media will claim Gary Oldman ‘rails’, but in context of the interview in Playboy, he responds casually.
“Bring me everyone!”
Oldman has starred in many films since the early 1980′s from Sid and Nancy to Leon the Professional, True Romance, and franchises The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter and a host of other notable films building a name as the true character actor. Despite his outrageous range Oldman comes through to both professionals and the public as real and accessible. For him to speak out against such powerful celebrities is apparent doom.
Why is Gary Oldman doomed?
Because he takes on the politically incorrect stance of defending the likes of Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin while in same breath accuses Bill Maher and Jon Stewart of hypocrisy.
What will be missed in the Playboy interview is Oldman’s true character, that of a humble man and dedicated parent. Answering every question with humility, he practically condemns most of his work over his career and calls it ‘a job’, announcing he forgets that he’s an actor until he’s reminded. To this end Oldman’s opinion becomes worthwhile even if you don’t agree with him.
Oldman’s take on legalized marijuana? “It’s silly to me. I’m not for it. Drugs were never my bag. I tried it once and it wasn’t for me.” And with this quote, Gary will most likely lose the respect of half his audience. He’s now an old head.
Doesn’t Gary Oldman know you can’t be this honest in an interview?
Never mind that Oldman struggled with alcohol addiction in his life and has overcome it. Oldman justifies his position on Pot, “To me the problem is driving. People in Colorado are driving high and getting DUI’s. That’s why I worry about it.” It’s these types of additional quotes that will be left out when Maher and Stewart get a hold of him.

What are the offensive quotes that will make Gary Oldman the target of Bill Maher and Jon Stewart? What leads up to it is his defense of Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin.
On Mel, “I don’t know about Mel. He got drunk and said a few things, but we’ve all said those things. We’re all f—ing hypocrites. That’s what I think about it. The policeman who arrested him has never used the word ni–er or that f—ing Jew? I’m being brutally honest here. It’s the hypocrisy of it that drives me crazy. Or maybe I should strike that and say “the N word” and “the F word,” though there are two F words now.”
Playboy questioned: “The three letter one?”
Oldman, ” Alec calling someone a F-A-G in the street while he’s pissed off coming out of his building because they won’t leave him alone. I don’t blame him. So they persecute.”
Then Oldman speaks the words that will truly draw condemnation. “Mel Gibson is in a town that’s run by Jews and he said the wrong thing because he’s actually bitten the hand that I guess has fed him — and doesn’t need to feed him anymore because he’s got enough dough. He’s like an outcast, a leper, you know? But some Jewish guy in his office somewhere hasn’t turned and said, “That fucking kraut” or “Fuck those Germans,” whatever it is? We all hide and try to be so politically correct. That’s what gets me. It’s just the sheer hypocrisy of everyone, that we all stand on this thing going, “Isn’t that shocking?”
Playboy then asked Oldman if he was a bigot.
“No but I’m defending all the wrong people. I’m saying Mel’s right, Alec’s a good guy. So how do I come across? Angry? It’s dishonesty that frustrates me most. I can’t bear double standards. It gets under my skin more than anything.”
Oldman uses a safe celebrity politician to make his point. “If I called Nancy Pelosi a c–t—and I’ll go one better, a f—ing useless c–t—I can’t really say that. But Bill Maher and Jon Stewart can, and nobody’s going to stop them from working because of it. Bill Maher could call someone a fag and get away with it. He said to Seth MacFarlane this year, “I thought you were going to do the Oscars again. Instead they got a lesbian.” He can say something like that. Is that more or less offensive than Alec Baldwin saying to someone in the street, “You fag”? I don’t get it.”
Right or wrong give him credit for saying things many believe but can’t say due to rampant political correctness. Unfortunately his words which offer solace to the likes of Hollywood untouchables like Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin are sure to get more than just casual zingers from Jon Stewart and Bill Maher.
The question is once they go on attack, will Gary Oldman defend himself and will anyone come to his defense?
