(PCM) Everyone’s favorite sponge has updated his look for Paramount Pictures’ new The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water 3D.
Very little is known about the film which doesn’t open in theaters until February 13, 2015.
All we know so far is that SpongeBob leaves the comfort of his pineapple under the sea to embark on a heroic journey above water – in our world.
According to USA Today, the film will follow SpongeBob as he leaves Bikini Bottom and comes on shore to transform into The Invincibubble to defeat the evil pirate that is threatening Bikini Bottom, voiced by Antonio Banderas.
SpongeBob is joined in his on shore adventure by Patrick Star as Mr. Superawesomeness, Mr. Krabs as Sir Pinch-a-lot, and Squidward Tentacles as Sour Note.
11 years after its predecessor, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, which saw success with critics and at the box office, earning over $85 million at the box office and a fresh rating of 68% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water 3D has brought the citizens of Bikini Bottom to life with CGI 3D rendering.
Sponge Out of Water combines traditional animation and live action with 3D rendering to give SpongeBob and friends a buff new look. Despite the new looks, the same cast from the TV series and the previous movie are reprising their roles, so all of the characters still have their same personality.
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie: Sponge Out of Water 3D opens in theaters nationwide starting February 6, 2015!
