(PCM) Hayleigh Black, a 16 year old high school student, from Alabama was recently sent home on the very first day of school because school officials found her hair color to be disruptive and unnatural.
Black has been dying her hair the same shade of bright red for several years and her mother claims that for some reason or another it was never a problem until this year. Black was one of three students who were all sent home on the same day due to hair color. One students hair was pink and another’s was orange.
Despite criticism, the principal of the school claims that the action to send the students home was in accordance with school policy. Black’s mother did meet with school officials,however they continue to disagree on the issue. Black was forced to change her hair color so that she would be able to return to school.
