(PCM) In a move that has excited DC fans, Warner Bros. Pictures has pushed up the release date for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice by two months, changing the film’s release from May 6, 2016 to March 25, 2016.
This is the third time the release date for Batman v Superman has been moved up; the film was first set to be released for July 17, 2015, then May 6, 2016, and now March 25, 2016.
The release date was moved to avoid conflict with Marvel’s Captain America 3, opening May 6, 2016.
Moving the date has allowed DC to prevent a superhero clash at the box office that probably would have resulted in both films losing out on potential revenue from crossover fans.
Pundits have been speculating that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy’s huge $94 million opening also influenced DC’s decision to push up the date for Batman v Superman.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice now opens March 25, 2016 and stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Scoot McNairy.
