Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy star in ‘St. Vincent,’ in Theaters Nationwide Oct. 24

StVincent(PCM) From the Weinstein Company comes a touching comedy starring two of America’s favorite comedians, Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy, teaming up to bring the laughs as well as the realness in St. Vincent, opening in select theaters October 10 then expanding nationwide October 24, 2014.

St. Vincent follows Maggie (Melissa McCarthy), a single mother, who moves into a new home in Brooklyn with her 12-year old son, Oliver (Jaeden Lieberher).

Forced to work long hours, she has no choice but to leave Oliver in the care of their new neighbor, Vincent (Bill Murray), a retired curmudgeon with a penchant for alcohol and gambling.

An odd friendship soon blossoms between the improbable pair.

Together with a pregnant stripper named Daka (Naomi Watts), Vincent brings Oliver along on all the stops that make up his daily routine – the race track, a strip club, and the local dive bar.

Vincent helps Oliver grow to become a man, while Oliver begins to see in Vincent something that no one else is able to: a misunderstood man with a good heart. © Weinstein.

Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids, Calvary), and Terrence Howard (Iron Man, Hustle & Flow) also star in the film.

St. Vincent is written and directed by Theodore Melfi, whose previous works include Winding Roads, The Story of Bob, Roshambo, and I Want Candy.

St. Vincent currently has a fresh rating of 62% on Rotten Tomatoes with critics praising the movie’s story and the actors’ performances. Betsy Sharkey of the Los Angeles Times said: “There are grand performances all around” while Lou Lumenick of the New York Post said: “Maybe even Jack Nicholson couldn’t do a better job than Murray playing this improbable hero – something that probably isn’t going to be forgotten come Oscar time.”
