Michael Keaton Stars in the ‘Birdman’ or ‘The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance’

Birdman_7(PCM) Fox Searchlight Pictures’ dark comedy Birdman is already a top contender on many critics’ lists of possible Best Picture nominees for 2015, alongside Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken, Bennet Miller’s Foxcatcher, and Richard Linklater’s Boyhood.

Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance is a black comedy that tells the story of an actor (Michael Keaton) – famous for portraying an iconic superhero – as he struggles to mount a Broadway play.

In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career, and himself.

Starring Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Zach Galifianakis, Naomi Watts, Amy Ryan, Merritt Wever, and Benjamin Kanes, Birdman is sporting a very fresh rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 9.1/10 on IMDb.

Nominated for the Golden Lion award at the 2014 Venice Film Festival, director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman is receiving heaps of praise for it’s satire on the entertainment industry.

Peter Debruge of Variety called Birdman “a triumph on every creative level, from casting to execution” and Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter says “Birdman flies very, very high.”
