(PCM) Warner Bros. Pictures released the official synopsis as well as the full cast for Magic Mike XXL, the sequel to 2012’s summer hit about the life of Tampa strippers.
Greg Silverman, President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President of Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures, made the announcement as production on the sequel
Returning for the sequel are Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias. Newcomers to the Magic Mike series are Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games), Donald Glover (TV’s “Community”), Amber Heard (The Rum Diary), Jada Pinkett Smith (TV’s “Gotham”), Andie MacDowell (Footloose) and Michael Strahan, who announced the news on Live! with Kelly and Michael.
Magic Mike director Steven Soderbergh is returning as director of photography and editor, along with Emmy Award-winner Gregory Jacobs as director and producer who served as a producer on Magic Mike. Magic Mike producers Nick Wechsler, Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin are also back for the sequel, with a screenplay by Carolin.
The official synopsis for Magic Mike XXL reads:
Magic Mike XXL finds the remaining Kings of Tampa ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them.
On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.
Magic Mike XXL is set to hit theaters on Wednesday, July 1, 2015!
