‘Stonehearst Asylum’ Opens in Theaters Just in Time For Halloween

StoneheartAsylum(PCM) Millennium Entertainment’s latest horror movie hits theaters on a limited run just in time for Halloween; Stonehearst Asylum opens October 24, 2014.

When young doctor Edward Newgate (Jim Sturgess) arrives at Stonehearst Asylum in search of an apprenticeship, he is warmly welcomed by superintendent Dr. Lamb (Ben Kingsley) and a mesmerizing woman by the name of Eliza Graves (Kate Beckinsale).

Edward is intrigued by Lamb’s modern methods of treating the insane until a series of unusual events leads him to make a horrifying discovery, exposing Lamb’s utopia and pushing Edward to the limits of his conscience.

Inspired by a short story from Edgar Allan Poe, Stonehearst Asylum is a tale in which nobody is who or what they appear to be.`

Stonehearst Asylum stars Kate Beckinsale (Underworld, The Aviator), Jim Sturgess (21, Cloud Atlas), Michael Caine (The Dark Knight, Children of Men), Ben Kingsley (Shutter Island, Gandhi), Brendan Gleeson (Edge of Tomorrow, Troy), and David Thewlis (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Seven Years in Tibet).

Stonehearst Asylum is directed by Brad Anderson, the man behind 2001’s Session 9, a horror film celebrated for it’s atmospheric creepiness. Anderson also directed The Machinist (2004), The Call (2013), and Transsiberian (2009) among other titles.

The film was written by Joe Gangemi (Wind Chill) and based on 1844 short story The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether by Edgar Allen Poe.
