(PCM) “Welcome home. Get Uncomfortable” reads the tagline for Warner Bros. Pictures’ This is Where I Leave You, in theaters nationwide September 19.
When their father passes away, four grown siblings, bruised and banged up by their respective adult lives, are forced to return to their childhood home and live under the same roof together for a week, along with their over-sharing mother and an assortment of spouses, exes and might-have-beens.
Confronting their history and the frayed states of their relationships among the people who know and love them best, they ultimately reconnect in hysterical and emotionally affecting ways amid the chaos, humor, heartache and redemption that only families can provide— driving us insane even as they remind us of our truest, and often best, selves.
This is Where I Leave You is based on the hilarious and poignant novel by Jonathan Tropper, who also wrote the screenplay, and stars Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Adam Driver, Rose Byrne, Corey Stoll, Kathryn Hahn, Abigail Spencer, Dax Shepard, and Jane Fonda.
This is Where I Leave You is directed by Shawn Levy, whose previous works include family friendly fare as Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), Night at the the Museum (2006), and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009). Levy’s more recent credits include The Internship (2013) and this winter’s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.
Shawn Levy also previously directed Tina Fey in 2010’s Date Night.
This is Where I Leave You will open in select theaters with p.m. screenings on September 18 and nationwide screenings September 19.
