Aaron Lewis Apologizes For World Series National Anthem Snafu!

(PCM) Country singer and Staind frontman Aaron Lewis has issued an apology after he botched the lyrics while performing the National Anthem to kick-off game 5 of The World Series.

Lewis accidentally rearranged some of the lyrics in the “Star-Spangled Banner” when rather than the line “at the twilight’s last gleaming” he instead jumped to the line “were so gallantly streaming” which doesn’t come until later in the song.

The game was televised nationally on FOX and players from the teams can be seen on screen reacting to Lewis’ mistake.

Lewis has since made a heartfelt public apology for the mistake saying “All I can say is I’m sorry and ask for the Nation’s forgiveness. My nerves got the best of me and I am completely torn up about what happened. America is the greatest country in the world. The Star-Spangled Banner’ means so much to so many, including myself, I hope everyone can understand the intensity of the situation and my true intent of this performance. I hope that the Nation, Major League Baseball and the many fans of our national pastime can forgive me.”

The San Francisco Giants beat the Kansas City Royals 5-0 on Sunday, and now lead the best-of-seven World Series 3 games to 2.
