(PCM) Sony should be thanking their luck stars for the lineup of their upcoming biopic on Apple co-founder Steve Jobs; directed by Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle with a script from Academy Award-winning writer Aaron Sorkin and starring Academy Award-winner Christian Bale, Jobs has all of the ingredients of an Award Season sweeper.
Aaron Sorkin announced Christian Bale’s role as Steve Jobs to Bloomberg on Thursday, a few weeks after rumors of Leonardo DiCaprio starring in the role were put to rest.
“We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale,” Sorkin told Bloomberg Television’s Emily Chang on a coming edition of “Studio 1.0.” “He didn’t have to audition. Well, there was a meeting.”
“He has more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined,” Sorkin, known for his wordy scripts and lengthy monologues, explained of Bale’s difficult role as Steve Jobs and his confidence in him to pull it off. “There isn’t a scene or a frame that he’s not in. So it’s an extremely difficult part and he is gonna crush it.”
Production for the Jobs biopic, not to be confused with the poorly received 2013 Ashton Kutcher-starring Jobs, will start shooting in the next couple of months according to Sorkin, who wrote the screenplay as an adaption of Walter Isaacson’s 2011 biography, Steve Jobs.
