DC Announces Superhero Movies: Flash, Wonderwoman, Suicide Squad, Justice League, Aquaman, Cyborg, Shazam, Green Lantern and Justice League

Batman v Superman prequel to Justice League Cuts Out Origin Stories

(PCM) With Marvel owning all the news at NY Comic-Con, you’d think DC would have released this news just a few days sooner.

But in DC fashion, better late than never.

Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara pandered to major investors in a meeting today the full schedule of DC movies beginning with Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016.

“The demand for high quality video content is growing fast – in the United States and around the world – as new technologies have created new platforms and millions of new connected consumers,” said Tsujihara. “The opportunity is huge. And no studio is better positioned to take advantage of it than Warner Bros.”

Here is a list of the actors filling the roles of the superheros:

Wonder woman: Gail Gadot
Flash: Ezra Miller
Shazam: ?
Black Adam: Dwayne Johnson
Aquaman: Jason Momoa
Batman: Ben Affleck
Superman: Henry Cavill
Cyborg: Ray Fisher
Green Lantern: ?

Noticeably absent is Green Arrow which is keeping with current New 52 canon. There is obviously room to add his story along the way and join the Justice League. At this time – no one is discussing that character at all. The makes room for Robin and others if any of the DC films get traction.

Tsujihara laid out many other properties and plans while putting on his best game face for the future of DC superheroes on the big screen, “At Warner Bros., we are united to not only continue to create the world’s greatest entertainment content, but to over-deliver on our financial targets,” said Tsujihara. “I’ve been with the company for over 20 years and I can’t remember a time when I’ve felt more confident about our future. We’re committed to maintaining and enhancing the great legacy of Warner Bros., the world’s most iconic and profitable studio.”

Everyone agrees that DC is playing from behind Marvel, and while Tsujihara calls Warner Bros. moves aggressive the moves don’t give fans much cause for faith as it appears the rolling out of all Justice League members in solo films will follow the current New52 DC Universe.

Fans have been wholly rejecting the new DC direction as it has major retcon issues which erase each character’s past history. That includes entirely new origins of existing characters. New 52 is convoluted and spiritually bankrupt. While some stories rise above others, many leave little hope that anything on film will make for a good retelling of new canon.
