(PCM) The long awaited and much anticipated sequel to 1994’s comedy hit, Dumb and Dumber, hits theaters nationwide this Fall; Dumb and Dumber To opens on November 14, 2014.
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprise their signature roles as Lloyd and Harry in the sequel to the smash hit that took the physical comedy and kicked it in the nuts: Dumb and Dumber To.
The original film’s directors, Peter and Bobby Farrelly, take Lloyd and Harry on a road to find a child Harry never knew he had and the responsibility neither should ever, ever be given.
The original Dumb and Dumber was met with mixed critical responses with some critics loving the silly humor in the road-buddy comedy while others detested the lowbrow humor. The film has since become a cult classic and is recognized as the launching pad for the careers of the Farrelly Brothers.
Peter Stack of the SFGate wrote in 1995: “Lowbrow, politically incorrect and stupid with jut-jawed determination, just about every minute of Dumb and Dumber… is inspired, irreverent, spark-driven comedy that takes you places you never thought a movie would go — even a Jim Carrey movie” while Rita Kempley of the Washington Post wrote: “An execrable catalogue of doody jokes, Dumb and Dumber is an abominable, abdominal comedy.”
Dumb and Dumber To, taking place twenty years after the original, will bring that same brand of humor to theaters this fall.
After a somewhat rocky production (Jim Carrey almost withdrew from the project due to belief that Warner Bros. was not enthusiastic about the sequel, almost causing Jeff Daniels to also withdraw), fans can rejoice that the long awaited sequel is making its way to theaters this fall.
Some fun facts about the Dumb and Dumber To: Jennifer Lawrence, a fan of the original Dumb and Dumber, will make a cameo appearance in the film and Australian electronic duo Empire of the Sun composed the film’s soundtrack.
Written and directed by brothers Peter and Bobby Farrelly (Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary, Me Myself & Irene) along with co-writers Sean Anders (We’re the Millers), John Morris (Hot Tub Time Machine), Bennett Yellin (Stuck on You), and Mike Cerrone (King Pin) Dumb and Dumber To stars Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, Rob Riggle, Laurie Holden, Rachel Melvin, and Kathleen Turner.
