(PCM) Focus Features’ third installment in the supernatural thriller Insidious series, Insidious: Chapter 3, debuted its official teaser trailer on its Facebook this Thursday and we recommend watching it with the lights on!
A prequel to Insidious, the third chapter in the series digs deeper into the origins of the Elise Rainier, the psychic who helped the Lambert family (Rose Bryne and Patrick Wilson) as she investigates the haunting of a teenage girl and her family, revealing more mysteries of the otherworldly realm, The Further.
The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell and stars Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding, The Grey), Stefanie Scott (Wreck-It Ralph, No Strings Attached), Lin Shaye (There’s Something About Mary, Insidious), Angus Sampson (Insidious, Where the Wild Things Are), and Leigh Whannell himself.
Insidious opened to positive reviews and grossed over $50 million in the U.S. box office when it opened in theaters in April of 2011, and while its sequel didn’t fare as well in the eyes’ of critics (scoring only a 38% on Rotten Tomatoes), moviegoers shelled out more of their hard earned money to see it; Insidious: Chapter 2 grossed over $83 million in the box office.
Insidious: Chapter 3 opens in theaters nationwide May 29, 2015.
