(PCM) Nextdoor is a free and private social network for neighborhoods and now for the second year in a row they are launching their “treat map” which is the go to tool to find out which homes in your neighborhood are planning on giving out treats for Halloween this year.
The way it works is that neighbors on the social network are able to mark their homes on the map with a candy corn icon to let trick-or-treaters know that will be offering up candy and treats this Halloween. It can also reveal if they are going to have a haunted house attraction as well.
The map allows the users to be able to plan the most efficient Halloween route with their children to get the most candy possible and learn the hot spots of other trick-or-treaters. The “treat map” can be printed out and carried along for the trek or be pulled up right from any smartphone or tablet.
In order to ensure safety and reduce the risk of unsavory people venturing to the neighborhoods, the app requires that users verify their addresses when registering for the app and the information will only be viewed by other residents of the same neighborhood.
