(PCM) Disney’s Frozen, released in 2013, captured the hearts of children, families, and even some grown adults everywhere, sweeping people up in it’s story of acceptance and sisterly love.
With Frozen being the highest-grossing animated film of all time, it makes perfect sense that Disney would capitalize on that success and start working on a sequel.
Well, Frozen fans can rejoice because Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa, confirmed in an interview with The Telegraph that work on a Frozen sequel, as well as a 6-minute short and a theatrical production are all in the works!
When asked about her involvement in the sequel and theater show, the veteran Broadway actress said, “Not the stage show – I don’t know what will happen with that – but the movie hopefully. We’ll see. I’m just going along for the ride.”
The actress/singer also gave Frozen fans some advice for singing Frozen’s instant hit, “Let It Go:” “I can’t give any tips on how to sing Let It Go because I barely can sing it sometimes. It’s really hard. I can’t wake up in the morning and just sing it.
“I guess my advice is that everyone who likes to sing it should sing it loud and proud and karaoke it out, sing it in the shower, sing it in the car and don’t worry about hitting the high notes.”
Frozen earned over $1.3 billion in worldwide box office revenue and had two runs in theaters; the general theatrical run starting in November, then again as a sing-along in 1000 select theaters in January.
Disney has yet to confirm whether there will be a sequel to Frozen, but in an exclusive interview with CNBC’s David Faber back in May, Bob Iger, the current chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, when asked about the Frozen franchise, said that Disney will not “mandate a sequel” or “force storytelling.”
It looks like we’re going to have to hold tight until more updates arrive! Stay tuned!
