Angus MacLachlan’s ‘Goodbye to All That’ Opens in Select Theaters December 17

Goodbye to All That(PCM) Acquired by IFC Films back in October, writer-director Angus MacLachlan’s Goodbye to All That will open in select U.S. theaters starting December 17, 2014.

Starring Paul Schneider as recently divorced father, Otto, who starts a new life with his daughter, Goodbye to All That marks the directorial debut of Junebug and Stone screenwriter Angus MacLachlan.

After premiering at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, Goodbye to All That was received with heaps of praise from critics. John DeFore calls Goodbye to All That “a surprisingly sexy tale of emotional rebuilding” in his review for the Hollywood Reporter. DeFore also praises star Paul Schneider, saying that he “shines in the role,” and concludes that the film “should have little trouble connecting with viewers beyond the fest circuit.”

Many critics agree with DeFore’s sentiments. Peter Debruge, Chief International Film Critic, praised Goodbye to All That in his review for Variety, writing: “Apart from a few wild-and-crazy details, the film never veers too far from the realm of relatability…Sometimes, it’s just nice to get out of L.A. or New York and spend some time in a place as beautiful as North Carolina, where the combination of sunlight and foliage gives these refreshingly unpretentious proceedings an energizing glow.”

Paul Schneider won the Best Actor in a Narrative Feature at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival for his performance with the jury writing “This performance reminded us that even in the most ordinary settings, our lives can summon extraordinary humor, pain, awkwardness, and if we earn it …. dignity.”

Goodbye to All That also stars Anna Camp, Michael Chernus, Heather Graham, Ashley Hinshaw, Heather Lawless, Melanie Lynskey, Audrey Scott, Amy Sedaris, Celia Weston
