(PCM) Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios released the official synopsis and more character details for Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man, starring Paul Rudd and opening in 2D/3D theaters nationwide July 17, 2015.
Along with the official synopsis came a reveal of the roles of many of the ensemble cast, including Judy Greer as Maggie, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Tip “Ti” Harris as Dave, Michael Peña as Luis, Wood Harris as Gale, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, and Jordi Mollà as Castillo.
The official synopsis follows:
“The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”
Ant-Man is being directed by Peyton Reed (Bring it On, Yes Man) and the screenplay was written by Adam McKay (Step Brothers, Anchorman) and Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, who are penning the screenplay for Mark Water’s latest adaption of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, set to be released in 2017.
Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) was originally attached as director to Ant-Man but dropped out after 8 years of pre-production due to ‘creative differences’ with Marvel.
