(PCM) Yet another celebrity death hoax has gone viral on social media and this time the victim was Guns N’ Roses front man Axl Rose.
The death hoax posting was designed to appear as if it legitimately came from an MSNBC report, however it is not true and Axl Rose is very much alive and well.
The people behind the hoax have no affiliation with the actual MSNBC website and are in the business of using shocking trickery to cause people to click on a completely fake news story. Their headline for the Axl Rose death hoax read “Sources: Guns N’ Roses Frontman Axl Rose Found Dead In West Hollywood Home At Age 52″.
The fake article went into even more details claiming ““Unconfirmed reports say Rose was found dead Tuesday late afternoon in his West Hollywood home after police were called around 3:30 pm for a welfare check.”
Enough people seemed to believe the hoax story as it was shared over 40,000 times on Facebook, despite the fact that it is completely untrue. The same individuals are behind the Macaulay Caulkin death hoax that was circulating last month as well. Just keep in mind that if a story came from the MSNBC.website domain that it is most definitely some sort of hoax.
