(PCM) Written, directed, and based on her award-winning short film of the same name, Sara Colangelo’s heavy drama Little Accidents will open in select theaters starting January 16, 2015 after receiving praise at this year’s festival run.
Little Accidents, starring Josh Lucas, Chloë Sevigny, Elizabeth Banks, Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Lofland, takes place in a small coal town devastated by a recent tragedy.
After a mining accident takes the lives of several residents, the disappearance of 14 year-old J.T. leaves the town in even more despair.
Diane (Elizabeth Banks), reeling from the disappearance of her son, forms two unlikely friendships with Owen, the son of a coal miner killed in the accident caused by failures on her husband’s part, and Amos, the sole survivor of the accident.
Secrets are revealed and the small mining town starts to unravel in the wake of all this tragedy.
Currently rated at 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, Little Accidents has been praised as “a well-acted, thoroughly involving drama” by Brian Viner of the UK’s Daily Mail, and Kenji Lloyd of HeyUGuys wrote “the performances of Holbrook and Lofland, in particular, remain utterly superb throughout, which leaves you hoping much more will be seen of these rising stars in the years to come.”
