(PCM) Cate Blanchett poses a very intimidating and fashionable Wicked Stepmother in the new poster for Disney’s live action adaptation of Cinderella.
With a black-gloved hand on one hip and the other looking as though it should be supported by a cane, Cate Blanchett delivers on the cool, cold manipulative aura of Lady Tremaine, better known as Cinderella’s Wicked Stepmother, in her dramatic black hat and beautifully tailored gold with black floral pattern, black, and dark green gown.
Holliday Grainger and Sophie McShera flank Blanchett on both sides as the Wicked Stepsisters, sporting much brighter but also floral getups in the new poster.
Sixty-five years after Disney’s classic animated tale delighted audiences, Cinderella is slated to open in theaters nationwide March 13, 2015.
Cinderella stars Downton Abbey‘s Lily James as the glass slipper-losing princess, along with Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother, Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine (the Wicked Stepmother), Game of Thrones’ Richard Madden looking very dapper as Prince Charming, and Holliday Grainger (Jane Eyre, The Borgias) and fellow Downton Abbey star Sophie McShera star as the Evil Stepsisters, Anastasia and Drizella.
Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger and The Winter Soldier) also stars as Cinderella’s Mother, Thor‘s Stellan Skarsgård as the Grand Duke, Derek Jacobi (Gladiator, The King’s Speech) as The King, Nonso Anozie (The Grey, Game of Thrones) as the Captain, and Ben Chaplin (The Thin Red Line, Murder by Numbers) as Cinderella’s Father.
Disney, film, and pop culture fans alike quickly flocked to the trailer after Disney Movie Trailers uploaded the over two-and-a-half minute preview to Youtube on November 19, gaining the official trailer an impressive 1 million views in under 12 hours. The trailer has since gained over 12 million views.
