Calling All Disney Fans! Here’s A List of All Disney Movies Hitting Theaters in 2015!

DisneyBanner(PCM) Walt Disney Studios has lit the silver screen and hearts everywhere with magic for over 90 years, celebrating imagination the power of love along the way.

Entering its 91st year, Disney show no signs of stopping; twelve films will be released in 2015 including four animated features and eight live-action films. 2015 releases include the the long-awaited and much anticipated J.J. Abrams helmed Stars Wars:The Force Awakens and the Paul Rudd-starring Marvel comic adaptation, Ant-Man.

Strange Magic – January 23, 2015

Directed by Gary Rydstrom (Finding Nemo, Saving Private Ryan) and starring Alfred Molina, Kristin Chenoweth, Maya Rudolph, Peter Stormare, Evan Rachel Wood, Elijah Kelley, Alan Cumming, Sam Palladio, Meredith Anne Bull, and Bob Einstein, Strange Magic is an animated feature from LucasFilms that uses popular songs from the past six decades to help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion. McFarland, USA – February 20, 2015

McFarland, USA is based on the inspirational true story of an against-the-odds team of novice Latino cross country runners in 1987 McFarland, California, coached by Jim White. Kevin Costner stars in the drama as Coach Jim White alongside Maria Bello, Martha Higareda,Chris Ellis, Carlos Pratts, Morgan Saylor, Michael Aguero,Sergio Avelar, Hector Duran, Rafael Martinez, Johnny Ortiz,Ramiro Rodriguez, Danny Mora, Valente Rodriguez, and Vanessa Martinez. Cinderella – March 13, 2015

Disney’s live-action adaptation of Cinderella stars Downton Abbey‘s Lily James as the glass slipper-losing princess, along with Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother, Cate Blanchett as the Wicked Stepmother, Game of Thrones’ Richard Madden looking very dapper as Prince Charming, and Holliday Grainger (Jane Eyre, The Borgias) and fellow Downton Abbey star Sophie McShera star as the Evil Stepsisters, Anastasia and Drizella. Monkey Kingdom – April 17, 2015

From Disneynature comes this documentary about the struggle for life in the wild; Monkey Kingdom follows a newborn monkey and its mother as they try to survive in the fierce social hierarchy of the Temple Troop living in ancient ruins in the jungles of South Asia. Avengers: Age of Ultron – May 1, 2015

The hype has been steadily building for Joss Whedon’s sequel to 2012’s Marvel’s The Avengers and now we’re only five months out from the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, James Spader, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Paul Bettany, Avengers: Age of Ultron follows the Avengers as they try and defeat the villainous Ultron and stop him from enacting his terrible plans.

Tomorrowland – May 22, 2015

Travel to a different time and change the world in Disney’s sci-fi mystery/adventure, Tomorrowland, starring George Clooney and Britt Robertson. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world-and them-forever. Inside Out – June 19, 2015 

Disney•Pixar are responsible for some of the best animated family films of the past two decades and they show no signs of stopping; Pete Docter and Ronaldo Del Carmen’s Inside Out will open just in time for summer vacation and the few teaser trailers we’ve seen so far look very promising. Starring Diane Lane, Amy Poehler, Kyle MacLachlan, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling, and Phyllis Smith, Inside Out tells the story of 11 year-old Riley, recently moved into a new home in San Francisco and struggling with all of her pre-teen emotions, personified as little colorful beings that live inside her head, as she struggles to adjust to her new life. Ant–Man – July 17, 2015

Ant-Man, directed by Peyton Reed, stars Paul Rudd as the titular hero and tells the story of master thief Scott Lang, a founding member of The Avengers, after he gains the incredible ability to shrink to a miniscule size while increasing his strength. Also starring Judy Greer, Bobby Cannavale, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Michael Peña, Wood Harris, David Dastmalchian, and Jordi Mollà, Ant-Man comes from the screenplay written by Adam McKay and Paul Rudd. The Jungle Book – October 9, 2015

We don’t have a trailer or poster for Disney’s animated remake of Rudyard Kipling’s’ classic The Jungle Book yet, but we do know the full cast! Christopher Walken plays King Louie, leader of the monkeys and the apes, Ben Kingsley is Bagheera, Bill Murray plays the lovable Baloo, Scarlett Johansson voices the hypnotising Kaa, Giancarlo Esposito voices leader of the wolf pack Akela, Idris Elba is the villain Shere Khan, Lupita Nyong’o voices Raksha, and newcomer Neel Sethi plays the protagonist, Mowgli. The Untitled Steven Spielberg Cold War Spy Thriller – October 16, 2015 

Steven Spielberg’s Untitled Cold War Spy Thriller will be Spielberg’s fourth film to star Tom Hanks since 1998’s Saving Private Ryan and will tell the true story of attorney James Donovan as he finds himself in the middle of the Cold War after being sent on an incredibly dangerous mission by the CIA to negotiate the release of an imprisoned American U-2 pilot. Directed by Spielberg, the untitled film comes from a screenplay by the Coen Brothers and Matt Charman and stars Alan Alda, Amy Ryan, and Mark Rylance alongside Tom Hanks.

The Good Dinosaur – November 25, 2015

Disney•Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur explores the question of “what if the dinosaurs never became extinct?” Directed by Pixar animator Peter Sohn, The Good Dinosaur is a heartfelt comedy starring John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, Bill Hader, Neil Patrick Harris, and Lucas Neff. Star Wars: The Force Awakens – December 18, 2015 

Arguably the most anticipated film of 2015, Disney’s Star Wars reboot, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, won’t hit theaters for another twelve months, but luckily we already have our first look at the J.J. Abrams helmed film in the form of a minute-and-a-half long teaser trailer. Star Wars: The Force Awakens, taking place 30 years after Return of the Jedi, stars Harrison Ford, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels,Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill,Oscar Isaac, Max von Sydow, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley,Lupita Nyong’o, Crystal Clarke, Pip Anderson, Christina Chong, and Miltos Yerolemou.
