The Cast For DownSizing Expands

(PCM) Three new actors have joined the cast for Alexander Payne’s Downsizing, a sci-fi satire currently in development starring Matt Damon and Reese Witherspoon.

The high concept story, taking place in the not-too-distant future, follows a husband (Damon) and wife (Witherspoon) who voluntarily decide to shrink themselves in an attempt to gain control over their out of control spending habits and lives. Things don’t go according to plan when his wife backs out last minute, leaving the jilted husband in an unfortunate situation.

The Wrap recently reported the addition of Alec Baldwin, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jason Sudeikis to the cast of the sci-fi dramedy in unspecified roles. Currently slated for a 2017 release, Downsizing is written and directed by Academy Award-winner Alexander Payne along with longtime co-writer Jim Taylor.

Reese Witherspoon is receiving a fair amount of Oscar buzz for her performance in the biographical drama, Wild. Matt Damon is currently filming for Ridley Scott’s sci-fi adventure, The Martian, and was recently announced as having a starring role in Yimou Zhang’s mystery/thriller, The Great Wall, as well as the upcoming untitled Bourne sequel.

Alec Baldwin is also busy; the 56 year-old actor will star in three films in 2015: an untitled Cameron Crowe project, Warren Beatty’s Howard Hawes Biopic, and Francesco Cinquemani’s Andròn – The Black Labyrinth. Baldwin is also currently filming for an untitled NFL concussion drama, Christopher McQuarries’s Mission: Impossible 5, and Tom McGrath’s adaptation of Marla Frazee’s novel, Boss Baby.

Jason Sudeikis is also starring in a number of upcoming films, including Bill Purple’s drama, The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and Sony Pictures’ May 20, 2016 release, Angry Birds. Neil Patrick Harris is currently recording for his part as Cliff in Disney Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur.
