(PCM) Fans of the hit PBS drama series “Downton Abbey” have been waiting with bated breath for any news about the rumored film adaptation of their beloved series and until now everyone has been mum. The news fans have been waiting for arrived via NBC International Studios president Michael Edelstein who officially confirmed a movie follow-up to the series is officially set to begin production sometime in 2018.
Edelstein confirmed the news at a launch for the Downton exhibit in Singapore where he said, “We are working on getting the script right and then we’ve got to figure out how to get the cast together. Because, as you know, people go on and do other things. But we’re hopeful to make a movie sometime next year.”
The film is still in it’s very early planning stages and even some of the show’s cast had not heard the news about the confirmation. Actress Laura Carmichael who played Lady Edith Crawley commented on the news saying “Well, tell my agent, because we are still waiting to know” and actress Sophie McShera who played Daisy added, “We have no idea if it’s happening. But we would all love to be a part of the film if it was to happen for sure”.
We are guessing someone better get the memo out to the rest of the cast, as it would be a total disappointment to fans if anyone was left out. It was also confirmed that the film’s script will definitely be penned by “Downton Abbey” creator Julian Fellowes. Stay tuned for more details soon!
