Incubus’s 8 tour came through Bristow, Virginia on a clear summer night last Wednesday, sharing the stage with Jimmy Eat World. After a set of alternative/bluegrass folk rock by Nashville newcomers Judah & the Lion opened up the show, Jimmy Eat World took the stage as Jiffy Lube Live filled with fans. The band opened with their Integrity Blues lead single, “Sure and Certain” followed by fan favorite “Bleed American”. The band’s stage setup wasn’t too over the top; with streetlights on each side of the band and a large LED backdrop. The four-piece delivered a 15-song alternative rock – power punk set, wrapping it up with well known hits “Sweetness” and “The Middle”.

Jimmy Eat World delivered an amazing set leaving the crowd warmed up and anxious for the main event. The alternative rock – funk metal band, Incubus, opened with their Light Grenades song, “Quicksand”. The five-piece showcased an elaborate stage setup with moving lights and a large screen backdrop. The band slammed through a high energy 21-song set delivering long time fan favorites and new material from their latest album, 8. It seemed the majority of the crowd started to leave after the band’s popular and harder rock jams “Nice to Know You” and “Dig”. It was a surprise that the 90’s alternative legends known for their metal influences chose to end the night with much calmer songs, “When I Became a Man” and “Throw Out the Map” before returning for an encore showcasing “Aqueous Transmission”, the final song from the album Morning View. For the most part, it was a very chill night and happy fans were left with a night to remember.
