Slipknot will not be performing at Knotfest 2017 says Corey Taylor

Corey Taylor has announced that for the first time since its inaugural year in 2012, SLIPKNOT will not be appearing on the 2017 lineup for the KnotFest Music Festival. This year’s Knotfest events will take place in Mexico in October, in addition to the U.S. date where Knotfest will again be paired with OzzFest. Speaking with Billboard, Taylor confirmed that his other project, Stone Sour, will be performing at both festivals this year by saying “it will be Stone Sour, and not Slipknot, that I’m playing with on those dates.” Stone Sour just released their new album Hydrograd on Friday (June 30th) and have lots and lots of touring ahead of them including their festival appearances and their co-headliner with Korn. All whilst, Slipknot has been enjoying a much deserved break after a full album and touring cycle behind their latest album, .5: The Gray Chapter.

“I think in a lot of ways your festival has to live past you, or it’s not gonna live at all. If it has to live and breathe on your presence, then it’s not a festival, and it’s not for anybody else but you. And for us, it’s always been more about the art and the music and everybody… That’s why we put so much work into it to begin with, is to really make sure that it was stable and it was strong and the foundation was there.”Corey Taylor Stated to Billboard

According to Billboard, this year’s Knotfest festivals, including one already announced for October 28th in Toluca, Mexico, and a U.S. date, again paired with Ozzy Osbourne’s Ozzfest, are expected to be announced on July 10th, which will feature appearances by STONE SOUR, which is fronted by SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor. What is your opinion on this change of KnotFest, do you think SLIPKNOT should play their own festival?
