‘Captain Marvel‘ hasn’t even begun production yet, and we’ve already learned a lot about the film. After shuffling release dates several times, the film finally landed on a March 8, 2019 release date. We already know that Brie Larson will star as the title character. We also know that the film is a 90’speriod piece, and that Samuel L. Jackson will return to the MCU as a pre-eyepatch wearing Nick Fury. And finally, we know that the Skulls will be involved in some capacity in the film.
At this year’s SDCC panel, concept art (pictured above) was leaked via everyone in Hall H. Although the concept art was enough to whet our appetites, we never really got a good look at Carol Danvers up close. That changed recently, as Marvel artist Andy Park took to twitter to finally reveal our first look at Captain Marvel in her full glory:
I don’t mean to ignore all of u requesting the higher res of #CaptainMarvel I painted. Sorry but I can’t ☹️When I get green light I def will pic.twitter.com/eAS3ccSEGm

While most of the cast has yet to be announced, we do know that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are directing. This will mark the first time that a directing duo, as well as a woman, have helmed a Marvel release. The film was written by Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve. ‘Captain Marvel ‘ is set to be released on March 9, 2019.
