‘Captain Marvel’ Gains New Screenwriter

‘Captain Marvel’ has hired a new screenwriter. Deadline is reporting that Geneva Robertson-Dworet is set to rewrite of the upcoming Marvel Studios project. Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) were originally contracted to write the script, but LeFauve left the project to direct the animated feature Gigantic.

The interesting thing about this news is that Robertson-Dworet has yet to have a screenplay released, which will be 2018’s untitled ‘Tomb Raider‘ reboot. Although audiences have yet to see her work on the big screen, Robertson-Dworet also penned ‘Gotham City Sirens‘, the upcoming ‘Suicide Squad‘ spinoff. She is  also attached to write in-development projects such as ‘Sherlock Holmes 3‘ and has had two screenplays appear on the “black list”, a yearly list of the industry’s best un-produced screenplays.

We don’t know to what extent Robertson-Dworet will rewrite the script, but one can imagine that the recent comic-con announcements that the Skulls would appear have something to do with the shake-up. Not much is known about the film, except for the fact that Brie Larson will star as the title character, the Skulls will appear in some capacity, and that the film will be a 1990’s period piece. With a release date of March 8, 2019, expect to see ‘Captain Marvel’ enter production toward the beginning of next year.
