Dashboard Confessional, The All American Rejects, and The Maine Take Festival Pier by Storm

Emo and pop-punk music are back or did they ever leave? Dashboard Confessional, The All American Rejects, and The Maine on Wednesday at The Festival Pier in Philadelphia, PA prove that they never left are actually better than they have ever been. The Maine launched the evening performing a lot of songs off of their latest release, Lovely Little Lonely as well as mixing in lots of older songs for the nostalgia fans in attendance who have not yet listened to what I think is the best album they put out to date. John O’Callaghan is a very attention grasping frontman that makes fans want to watch their set as its very entertaining, interacting with the fans directly throughout their entire set. Next was, The All American Rejects who soared through a 13-song setlist beginning with “Swing Swing” which lasted for about an hour full of their hits and blending in new material like their song “Sweat” and “Close Your Eyes.” The energy coming from frontman Tyson Ritter was infectious and just made you want to move to each and every song, Ritter constantly joking and interacting one and on with fans in the crowd. Ending out their set with “Gives You Hell” to the delight of many fans they performed all of their smash hits and fan favorites amping up the crowd for Dashboard Confessional’s set.

Dashboard Confessional bursting onto the stage with their smash hit single “Vindicated” which was an instant sing-a-long within the crowd as the stage was lit very moody blues with vectoring backlights. A few highlights throughout the bands set were, The exceptional vocals from Chris Carrabba, holding long notes that seemed never-ending which was very impressive to all the fans in attendance, The bands cover of “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber which led directly into “Just Like Heaven” by The Cure. Dashboard’s set was more than incredible surprising us with how awesome they still are even after years and years of touring constantly. Make sure you get out to a show nearest you if this tour comes near your city.
