‘Deadpool 2‘ star/producer Ryan Reynolds has tweeted out the first full look at Cable (Josh Brolin) in the upcoming sequel. Production on the film is currently underway, with both Reynolds and Brolin teasing the character for months until the big reveal today.
Cable was first announced in the post-credits scene of the original ‘Deadpool‘, and the casting of Brolin seems to be spot on. As a crucial member of the the X-Men universe, as well as the X-Force movie that is currently in development, it makes sense that the casting and design of this character is essential for this universe. So far, it seems a if they have hit the nail on the head.
In the comics, Nathan Summers is the biological son of the X-Man Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor (Jean Grey‘s clone), the “half” brother of Rachel Summers and Nate Grey, and the genetic template for Stryfe. He is from a possible future timeline, having been transported as an infant to the future, where he grew into a warrior, before returning to the present.
In addition to the return of Reynolds as the title character, ‘Deadpool 2‘ will feature Monica Baccarin, Zadie Beetz, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Jack Kesy, Stefan Kapicic, Julian Dennison, and Leslie Uggams. The film is directed by David Leitch and written by returning writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
