EXPOSED: Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” Music Video Dissected

Taylor Swift‘s new music video for her latest single “Look What You Made Me Do” was premiered lastnight at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards in LA. This single is off of Swift’s forthcoming sixth studio album, Reputation which is being released on November 10th. Swifties have taken to the internet viciously after the release of this video dissecting almost every section of her new music video, in which we have taken and put them all together below. The video, was directed by collaborator, Joseph Kahn. Kahn has done much of the 1989 music video era. This video features Swift poking some heavy-handed fun at the typical criticism that comes her way: she plays the victim too much, her much Instagrammed girl gang is too picture-perfect, her surprise face is annoying as hell. We have the explanations of what Swifties think certain parts of this new music video are about. We think that the dissections that fans have made about the video are representing that the media thinks of Swift, so Swift wanted to mock what the media thinks of her versus what she really is.

    1. Taylor Swift abandoned her songwriting alias ‘Nils Sjoberg’ after the Calvin Harris spat. ‘Nils Sjoberg,’ was the alias that Swift used for the song “This is What You Came For” by Calvin Harris feat Rihanna, and has now taken proper credit for her part in creating the tune with her actual name Taylor Swift as a songwriting credit. The database for music licensing agency BMI now lists Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift as the composers of the song. Swift and Harris co-wrote this smash hit single while they were still dating, however Swift did not wish to publicize her part in the creation of the song, so she used the songwriting alias ‘Nils Sjoberg.’ She has put that alias to rest which is why it can be seen on a tombstone in the cemetery in this new music video.
    2. Swift Became Queen of the Snakes in this music video. Etched in the throne is ET TU BRUTE on both sides of the chair arm rests, because being a snake means that she is a BACKSTABBER. Swift teased the release of “Look What You Made Me Do” and her forthcoming album, Reputation, by posting cryptic videos of what was later revealed to be a snake on social media. Snakes played a big part in Swift’s feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.
    3. When she calls her other self a b*t*h & the zombie version told her not to say that referencing Kanye saying I made that b*t*h famous!
    4. Katy Perry look-a-like in the car accident scene and the Grammy is something Katy Perry “has been after”
    5. Robbed a streaming company for their money, Why? Cause the streaming companies only care about money. Symbolizing when Swift pulled her music from streaming services as she was not being paid what she deserved but then re-added her music to streaming services later but earlier this year.
    6. Became the leader of a “Squad” which only pretty models are allowed in. She collects friends who fall into very specific categories (think models).
    7. She had every boy fall for her, Then made them wear I ❤️ TS shirts. News came out that Swift and Tom Hiddleston were dating, and only a month later, the English actor was spotted at the pop star’s infamous 4th of July party wearing a shirt that said “I Heart T.S.” on it. This portion of the video is showing the similar shirt.
    8. Eight Backup dancers symbolizing her eight ex-boyfriends and they’re all wearing I Love TS shirts.
    9. $1 in the bathtub symbolizing the $1 she won in the recent lawsuit against the guy who sexually assault.
    10. Killed off every previous version of herself from her different looks, genres, etc.
    11. Swift laying in a tub of diamonds in a pearl bathtub symbolizing what the media thinks of her, as she mentions in her video at the Grammy Museum. Check out the video here: https://t.co/DUpBIGGxTk
    12. Butt grabbing incident during a M&G with a fan also in the video.
    13. In the final scene, there are 15 different eras of Taylor Swift throughout the years, and there are 15 songs on her forthcoming record, Reputation
    14. Swift acknowledged every criticism of her in 40 seconds – creating the most iconic 40 seconds in pop culture.
    15. “I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative” Swift previous image of herself on the VMA’s stage accepting her moon man, which maybe the answer as to why she was not present at the 2017 VMA’s even with her music video premiere.

The album is being release on November 10th, which is the day that Kanye West’s mother, Donda West, died; 10 years ago to be exact.
